What is Astrology and How Does it Work?

Astrology”The word astrology comes from the Latin ‘derived from Greek words Astron’, constellation or star, and ‘logy’, the study, so the literal translation of the word ‘astrology’ is ‘the study of stars’.

There are many traditions ranging from Vedic astrology, the oldest form of astrology, Chinese and Egyptian traditions. This article will focus on Western astrology.

astrological readings are based on your birth data, time, date and place of birth. Astrologers use the positions of the planets when you were born to determine how they affect different areas of your life. For example, mercury sign occupied when you were born will show how your mind. Venus indicates how the heart works and the way you relate to others and the moon describes how emotions work.

There are 12 astrological signs, each of which represents different attributes of personality.

Many know what zodiac sign they are. This is known as the ’sun sign’ and that is what we are and what we identify with. But knowing your sun sign is far from being the whole picture. The other planets in the solar system also have a role to play.

In a chart are designed homes in a counterclockwise direction. The first house starts at 09:00 which means that the second house will be at 8:00, the third house at seven and so on up to the twelfth house at 10 o’clock.

If, for example, are born with an increased sign of Sagittarius means that our first house, which governs a new beginning and how we express ourselves, will be made through the power of the sign in the house – in this case Sagittarius. There are many aspects that can be used but the most common are listed below. One aspect comes into being when there is an exact amount of degrees between the planets. As a general rule, the farthest planet from the Sun in the solar system has influence on others. Opposition – 180 ‘apart – tolerance 10′ – challenging. The planets can not activate them or simply want to know and head in separate directions.

Trine – 120 ‘apart – tolerance 10′ – benefit. These planets work very well together.

Square – 90 ‘apart – tolerance 10′ – challenging. The planets have difficulty working together.

Sextile – 60 ‘apart – tolerance 5′ – benefit. Planets can work together.

Inconjunction – 150 ‘apart – tolerance 5′ – needs work. These planets need to adapt and change before they can work together.
